Q: What makes Viagra Professional different from regular old Viagra?
A: Viagra Professional works for a living instead of sponging off of others and government benefits!

I don’t know. That joke was funnier in my head. In all seriousness, Viagra Professional is a variant of Viagra that offers a higher dosage of sildenafil and thus works faster. Whereas traditional Viagra is 25 mg of sildenafil, one tablet of Viagra Professional is 100 mg of sildenafil. It’s a bit more expensive in Australia, so you’ll probably want to see if it’s something you really need before going and purchasing it (and I’m pretty sure you need a prescription, so, you’ll have to talk to your doctor anyway). 10 Viagra Professional pills costs about $42 ($4.12 per pill, vs. $30 at $3 a pill for traditional Viagra); 20 Viagra Professional pills will run you around $69 ($3.44 per pill, vs. $52 at $2.56 a pill for traditional Viagra). You can purchase up to 360 (!!!) Viagra Professional pills at once, but it’ll set you back about $427 ($1.18 per pill). That’s nearly a full year’s worth of boners! Maybe you can take off holidays, like Christmas, Easter, President’s Day, the 4th of July and Yom Kippur.
As with any medication, side effects may occur when taking Viagra Professional. Some of the more common but less serious side effects include flushing, dizziness, headache, nasal congestion, diarrhea, temporary vision abnormalities, and itching/rash. Less common but more serious side effects include swelling of ankles/legs, prolonged/severe dizziness, nausea, and angina. In the event that you experience any of these, contact a medical professional as soon as possible. There’s also the infamous 4-hour-plus-long erection that’s pretty painful and will require immediate medical attention.
You might also experience a good, old fashioned allergic reaction to Viagra Professional. I don’t have a penis so I’ve never used Viagra Professional, but one time I had an allergic reaction to Zantac, which sucked pretty bad. I started experiencing tightness in my chest and I was having trouble breathing, so I had to go to urgent care. While I was there, I started feeling really itchy, and one of the nurses pointed out that I had broken out in hives. They had to give me a shot of Benadryl in the butt, which took care of the hives, but it made me really sleepy. I seriously almost fell asleep right there in the urgent care room. I imagine such a thing would put a damper on an evening of romance (that particular night my only plan was the watch the Dodgers/Giants game–fuck the Giants, for real). So for your sake, I hope that doesn’t to you.
I have been working in General Practice since 2006.
